Arthur F. Michael

Arthur F. Michael, 102, of Washburn, IL, passed away at 1:30 pm on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Snyder Village in Metamora, IL. He was born on June 12, 1918, in Metamora, IL, to August and Elizabeth (Seipel) Michael. He married Dorothy Pelz on May 10, 1941 in Metamora. She passed away on November 30, 2004.

Surviving are his two sons, Phil (Kay) Michael of East Peoria and John (Bette) Michael of Washburn; two grandchildren, Jill (Max) Paller and Eric Michael; two great-grandchildren, Tori and Landon Paller; and one sister, Annette Meismer of Peoria. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and four brothers.

Arthur was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during World War II. He was a life-long farmer in the Washburn area. He was a member of the Washburn American Legion Post #661, Woodford County Farm Bureau, and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Metamora.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Vien Van Do officiating. Due to COVID-19, CDC guidelines will be followed and masks are required. A Walk-thru Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until mass time on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Linn-Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Washburn with military rites accorded by the Washburn American Legion Post #661. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Church, 415 West Chatham Street, Metamora, IL 61548 or to Washburn American Legion Post #661, 104 East Parkside Drive, Washburn, IL 61570.
