Arleen K. Smith

Arleen K. Smith, 69, of Washington passed away at 12:16 pm Sunday, April 23, 2023, with her family by her side at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL.

She was born April 29, 1953, in Peoria the daughter of Roger and Juanita Thomas Smick.  She married Lenard A. Smith on June 5, 1971, in Henry, Il.

Surviving are her husband of Washington, one son James (Jamie) Smith of Washington; two daughters Mindy (Doug) Mooney of Washington and Jennifer (Allen) Fort of Morton, IL; Also surviving are eight grandchildren Jeffrey, Jacob, Jeremy, Joseph, Neona, Danica, Brock, and Brenna; three great grandchildren Annabelle, Mara, and Remi; three brothers Eugene (Cindy) Smick of East Peoria, Rory (Kimberly) Smick of Washington and Calvin Smick; one sister Jacqueline (Richard) Whitby of Georgia.  Her parents, two sisters Pamela K. Smick and Bonnie Jean Smick preceded her in death.

She worked at Szolds in Washington and later Design Plus in Peoria Heights. She retires to become the caretaker for her grandchildren.  Her "grand babies" were her pride and joy.  She loved attending her grand children’s sporting events.  She enjoyed planting flowers and all things nature.  She enjoyed ice cream especially from the Ice Cream Shack in Sunnyland and Arleen loved "chicken-chicken-chicken".

Cremations have been accorded.  A private family service will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be given to KB Strong https://kbstrong-fightingthefight.com/.
