Anthony Joseph “Tony” Krumholz, 91, of Metamora, IL, passed away at 2:00 am on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at his residence at Country Comfort Retirement Homes in Elmwood, IL.
He was born on December 3, 1931, in Eureka, IL, to Dan and Marie (Michael) Krumholz, Sr. He married Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Svymbersky on September 28, 1957 in Peoria, IL. She passed away on November 12, 2009.
Surviving are his children, Michele (Everett) Ewalt of Elmwood, IL and Mike (Christine) Krumholz of Naperville, IL; grandchildren, Anthony (Melanie) Ewalt, Erica (Nick) Kierski, Emily Miller, and Ben Miller; great-grandchildren, Emmy Ewalt, E.J. Ewalt, and one great-grandson on the way; and siblings, Mary (Carl) Adams of Metamora and Bill (Joan) Krumholz of Peoria. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Bernard Krumholz, Deloris Knoblauch, Daniel Krumholz, Rita Weber, and Rosemary Knoblauch.
Tony was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War as a tank instructor in Texas until his honorable discharge in 1954. After returning from serving, he drove a gas truck for FS. He then worked as a carpenter by trade until his retirement in 1993. Tony was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and Carpenters Union 237. Tony loved to play euchre with his brothers and sisters and the card game pay-me with his family during the holidays, and spending time with his friend Ceil Guth. He was a devoted catholic and his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were his greatest joy. We will miss him deeply!
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Metamora with Father David Kipfer officiating. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 9:15 am with visitation to follow from 9:30 am until mass time, also on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Metamora with military rites accorded by the American Legion Post 89. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Mary’s School, 400 West Chatham Street, Metamora, IL 61548 or to Claude Keefer Industrial Arts Fund, 301 West Butternut Street, Elmwood, IL 61529.
