Youssef Boutros Alwan

Youssef Boutros Alwan, 81 of Peoria, passed away on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Youssef was born on Feb. 10, 1939 in Itoo, Lebanon, a son of Boutros and Shahida Alwan. He married Marie Alouan on Aug. 10, 1975 in Itoo. She survives along with their children, Shadia (Anthony) Couri of East Peoria, Peter Alwan of Denver, CO, Simon (Tasha) Alwan of Peoria and Tina (Brent) Fillmore of Oshkosh, WI; siblings, Marie Alwan, Cathrine Tannoury and sister-in-law Farida Alwan all of Lebanon; seven grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Simon Alwan, Wahib Alwan, Foutine (Raffoul) Yammine, Agosia (Chafic) Sleiman, and brother-in-law Antonios Tannoury.

Youssef was a contractor, owner of Alwan Home Improvement. He loved his work, gardening with his wife, and spending time with his grandkids. He was a member of St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church.

Due to COVID restrictions, funeral services will be private and no visitation will be held.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Youssef Alwan Memorial Fund established at CEFCU. All donations will go in Youssef's memory to the Itoo Lebanon Relief Fund.
