Wynona D. Pope

Wynona D. Pope, 92, of Peoria passed away at 10:20am Saturday May 5, 2012 at Heartland of Riverview in East Peoria. She was born on April 12, 1920 in Baxter Springs KS the daughter of Charles G. and Hattie M. Clark Dawes. She married Paul Herring in Santa Fe, NM he died in January of 1992. She then married William Pope on September 25, 1992 in Peoria, IL. He passed on April 17, 2007. Surviving are her close friends Bill and Shirley Sadler of Washington and their daughters Valerie Sadler of Washington and Victoria Norton of Lexington, TN. She was a 1941 graduate of Bacone High School in Tulsa, OK and a 1944 St. John?s School of Nursing in Tulsa, OK. She worked at Proctor Hospital as a Register Nurse for 25 years retiring in 1985. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Peoria. Services will be 11am Wednesday May 9th at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington with Rev. William Dohle officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday May 8th at the Funeral Home from 5pm until 7pm. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Streator. Memorials may be given in her name to TAPS.
