Wilma Gingrich

January 9, 1918 — March 10, 2015

Wilma E. Gingrich, 97, of Washburn passed away on the morning of Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at her residence. She was born in her family home on January 9, 1918 in rural Tremont, IL the daughter of Andrew and Maggie Ripper Staker. She married Lloyd H. Gingrich on January 21, 1942 and he passed away on April 15, 1970. Also preceding her in death were three brothers Howard, Pete, and Floyd along with one sister Florence Studer. Surviving are her two children Wesley (Jan) Gingrich and Phoebe Gingrich all of rural Washburn. Also surviving is one grandson Steven (Kate) Gingrich of East Peoria. Wilma was an LPN in the intensive care unit at OSF St. Francis Medical Center for 20 years. Wilma loved Jesus Christ and new Him as her Savior and Lord and with that, had a servant heart for helping and putting others first. She enjoyed many years of volunteer work at the Et Cetera Shop in Eureka. She was an active member of Metamora Mennonite Church for 74 years where she quilted many quilts for the Mennonite Relief Sale. Her many enjoyments in life included reading, gardening, cooking, traveling and quilting, but Wilma especially enjoyed spending time with her family and will be missed dearly by all. A private burial will be held in Stewart Harmony Cemetery in rural Metamora. A memorial service will be 11am Saturday at Metamora Mennonite Church with Rev. Mike Danner officiating. Visitation will be one-Hour prior to her service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials in her name be given to Samaritans Purse-Operation Christmas Child.
