East Peoria – William N. "Bill" Williamson, 90, of East Peoria passed away at Liberty Village, Pekin Manor at 3:12pm Sunday, August 19, 2018.
Visitation for Bill will be from 4:00pm until 6:00pm Thursday August 23, 2018 at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 6:00pm also at the funeral home. Pastor John Hopwood from Grace Presbyterian Church will officiate. Cremation will follow his service and a private family inurnment will be at a later date in Fondulac Township Cemetery in East Peoria. Bill was the son of Richard and Ruby (Lane) Williamson, born in Delavan Illinois on March 3, 1928. His parents preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Williamson of Ottawa IL. Bill grew up in the Havana Illinois area.
Bill married Donna Liescheidt at Trinity Lutheran Church in Peoria, in the parsonage on July 14th 1950, she survives. Bill is survived by his children, Greg (Kathy) Williamson, and Steve (Twila) Williamson and granddaughters Katie (Dan) Ransom and Jennifer Williamson. Also surviving is a brother, Gerald Williamson of Havana IL. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing for many years. In retirement Bill and Donna enjoyed motor homing around the U.S. Bill and Donna celebrated their 60th anniversary on an Alaska cruise. Bill's favorite tune was Stardust sung by Nat King Cole, as well as instrumental versions. He enjoyed Big Band, Hit Parade and Country music. His favorite TV program was Wheel of Fortune.
Over the years Bill had a number of occupations including truck driving, Caterpillar, Piggly Wiggly grocery, Letourneau Westinghouse and finally for many years in business as Williamson Rod and Blind, established in 1962. Bill was introduced to the drapery business by his brother in law Hymie Goldberg. Bill had also been a barber and would on occasion joke about being a college graduate, having graduated from Barber College. Bill will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend.
