William A. Scheirer

William A. Scheirer, 84, of Metamora, IL passed away at 7:40 pm on Monday, July 11, 2016 at Unity Point Health-Proctor, Peoria. He was born on January 18, 1932 in Metamora, IL to William J. and Anna (Waldschmidt) Scheirer. He married Luella V. Noe on September 15, 1956 at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church, Metamora. She passed away on February 25, 2011. Surviving are one brother Milton (Bernice) Scheirer of Metamora; brothers-in-law Norbert Adams of Metamora, Larry Miller of Washington, Anthony (Sheila) Noe of Marquette Heights, Raymond (Phyllis) Noe of Washington, Melvin Noe of East Peoria, and Ralph (Carol) Noe of Springfield; sister-in-law Josephine Stalzer of South Dakota; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters. Bill worked for Caterpillar for 30 years as an executive custodian, retiring in 1996. He was a farmer and a school bus driver for Metamora Township High School. He enjoyed gardening, making wine, and loved playing cards with family. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Metamora with Father Vien Van Do officiating. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 4:30 pm on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with visitation to follow from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Metamora. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. Mary's School, St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or the Sisters of St. Francis of the Immaculate Conception, 2408 West Heading Avenue, West Peoria, IL 61604.
