William C. Rodgers

William C. Rodgers, 90, of Washington passed away at 4:45am, Friday, April 8, 2016 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka. Bill was born on May 21, 1925 in Bonne Terre, MO son of the late Floyd and Emily Matkin Rodgers. He married Marjorie A. Breedlove on September 13, 1953 in Peoria. Surviving are his wife, one son Jeff (Carol) Rodgers of Andros, Bahamas, one daughter Cynthia (Doug) Zimmerman of Littleton, CO along with six grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Bill graduated high school in Augusta, IL. in 1943 then serving in the US Navy aboard AM 126 Token in the Pacific Theatre during World War 2. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He graduated Bradley University in Peoria, IL in 1948. After graduation he gained employment at the Commercial National Bank of Peoria, retiring after 40 years. Bill has served on the Washington Grade School District 52 School Board, Washington City Council, Counseling and Family Services board and was active in the Avion Travelcade Club. He was a longtime member of the Washington Presbyterian Church where he had served as an elder. A memorial service will be held 1:00pm Monday April 11, 2016 at Washington Presbyterian Church with Rev. Rebecca Weltmann officiating. There will be no visitation. A family graveside service will be held that morning. Memorials may be made to the Washington Presbyterian Church, Washington District Library or the Marion Medical Mission of 1412 Shawnee Dr., Marion, IL. 62959.
