William Molendi

William M. Molendi, 79, of Washington passed away at 6:00 pm on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at his residence.

He was born to Marino P. and Margaret R. (Miklik) Molendi, on April 26, 1944, in Waukegan, Illinois. He married Nancy E. Hodge on December 5, 1964, in Spring Bay, Illinois.

Surviving are his children, Steven (Tracy) Molendi of Eureka and Angela (Dorwin) Doty of Washington. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Zachary (Taylor) Molendi, Samantha (Alyssa Castro) Molendi, Jacob and Baylee Schmechel, Derek and Vanessa Doty; two great grandchildren, Nolan and Cooper Molendi. He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Molendi, his parents and one brother, Daniel Molendi.

William worked as a gear technician at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in East Peoria Illinois for 30 years retiring in 1992. He then became the cook, grocery shopper, house cleaner and a very active Grandpa in each and every grandchild's life. William always felt that this was his time to take over the household jobs to allow his wife Nancy to work or volunteer within the community as she loved to do.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington, Illinois at 6 pm on Monday February 26, 2024. Visitation will be from 4pm until his time of service. A private burial will be held at a later date at Spring Bay Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in William's memory to American Cancer Society, a charity dear to his and his late wife's hearts.
