WASHINGTON?William Charles Edward Chapman, Jr., 73, of Washington, passed away at his home at 10:55 p.m., Tuesday, May 14, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born on February 1, 1940 in Peoria to William C. E. and Leuna (Patterson) Chapman. He married Mary Jo Jeffery in Peoria on July 1, 1967. Mary Jo survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Gail (John) Craig of Washington and Katie (Mike) Powers of Sperry, Iowa; two sisters, Jane (Barney) Reeves and Helen (Jim) Phipps, both of Peoria and three very special, loving grandchildren, Bryce, Austin and Paige. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. Bill had been a field service representative for Steris Healthcare in Illinois for more than 30 years prior to his retirement. He also had served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1968. Bill loved to fish and cherished the annual family fishing trips to Minnesota when the girls were at home. Then in later years he would take the grandchildren fishing at Eureka Lake. Bill?s greatest enjoyment seemed to be the time he could spend with the family. Visitation for Bill will be on Saturday, May 18, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Graveside services will be at noon at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria with Pastor Tom Goodell officiating along with military honors. Memorials may be directed to either Vitas Hospice or Helping Hands, both of Peoria.
