William "Bill" Flanagan

William R. "Bill" Flanagan, 81, passed away at Arc at Chillicothe, IL at 12:20 AM on January 4, 2024. He was born on October 26, 1942, in Peoria, IL to Ronald and Isabella (Baxter) Flanagan.

Surviving are two brothers, Jack (Bea) of Lincoln, Nebraska and Tom (Susie) of Peoria. Also surviving are 2 nephews, Patrick (Sarah) Flanagan of Canton, IL and Timothy (Krissie) Flanagan of Dunlap, IL. Also surviving are nieces, Kellie Flanagan of Chicago, IL, Tara Flanagan of Arlington Heights, IL, Holly (John) Flanagan-Matzen of Lincoln, Nebraska and Amanda (Chris) Ray of Bloomington, IL.

A U.S. Army veteran from 1960 until 1963, stationed in Korea as an infantryman and later as a sergeant at Arlington, VA in the prestigious "Old Guard" at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Bill attended Peoria Central High School before enlisting in the Army. He later graduated from Southern Illinois University and retired from Caterpillar as a Manufacturing Systems Specialist.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Arc at Chillicothe and Compassus Hospice for their compassionate care.

There are no public services scheduled at this time. Inurnment of ashes will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL at a later time.
