William R. Bill Lloyd

William R. "Bill" Lloyd, 91, of Metamora passed away at 8:43 pm on Friday, May 22, 2015 at Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, Peoria. He was born on March 27, 1924 in Girard, IL to Thomas H. and Evelyn (Gehant) Lloyd. He married Joyce F. Butler on June 9, 1956 in Altamont, IL. She survives. Also surviving are children David W. (Betty) Lloyd of Plymouth, IN, Evelyn (Micheal) McCambridge of Kenosha, WI, and Barbara D. Lloyd of Peoria Heights, IL; grandchildren Jonathan Lloyd, Laura (Dylan) Miller, Audra Lloyd, Brittany Mathis, and James Mathis; one great-granddaughter Zelda Miller; brother Dean S. (Norma) Lloyd of Girard, IL; and sister-in-law Marcia Lloyd of Girard, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Jerry B. Lloyd and Robert Lloyd. Bill was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was a high school graduate of Girard High School. He received his Bachelor?s in Agriculture from the University of Illinois and received his Master?s in Education. He was a Biology, Chemistry, Physics and General Science teacher for Metamora Township High School for 30 years. He also worked maintenance at Snyder Village. He was a member of Grace Bible Church, Washington and the Gideon?s Bible International. He enjoyed photography, camping, bird watching and singing. He loved singing in his church choir and for the Snyder Village Gospel Choir and their Kitchen Band. He also led music for the residents at Snyder Village once a week as a volunteer. He was a member of the Gospel Quartet Switchmen. Bill was a Mr. Fix-It and enjoyed building and selling houses. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 11:00 am at Grace Bible Church, Washington with Reverend Adam Kipp officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Metamora. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Grace Bible Church and Gideon?s Bible International. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
