William E. "Bill" Hopp

William E. "Bill" Hopp, age 70, of Metamora, IL passed away at 4:05 am on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at his residence. He was born on June 15, 1946 in Burlington, IA to Dee L. and Marian (Hierstein) Hopp. He was married to Rosanne Hopp for forty years before her passing in 2008. He spent the past five years with his beloved Bonnie. She survives. Also surviving are his children Andrew (Kristi) Hopp of Spring Bay and Deborah (Michael) Hanley of Denver. Bill had three grandchildren whom he adored: Abby Hopp, Alex Hopp, and Lincoln Hanley. Bill's siblings, Larry (Betty) Hopp, Vicki Newton, Dan (Consuelo) Hopp, Steve (Denise) Hopp, and Connie (John) McCarty, also survive. Bill was preceded in death by his children, Eddy and Amy Hopp, his parents, and nine siblings. Bill honorably served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1967. He then moved to Peoria to work for IBM. He retired from IBM in 1998 after 30 years of distinguished service as a customer support engineer. He worked as a consultant for three years before fully retiring. Bill was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, taking his children to Busch Stadium on many occasions. He enjoyed traveling and had much fun at various gambling casinos on those trips. He was a skilled woodworker, making many pieces of furniture for his family. Most importantly, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church, Metamora with Father Greg Jozefiak officiating. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 3:30 pm on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 with visitation following from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel in Germantown Hills. Cremation rites will be accorded after mass. Burial of ashes will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Metamora at a later date.
