William B. "Bill" Belshaw age 72 of Metamora, Illinois passed away at 11:47pm Thursday April 12, 2012 at OSF Medical Center in Peoria. He was born December 27, 1939 in Chicago IL, to William L. and Elizabeth J. (Ehringer) Belshaw. He married Marjorie J. Obert on August 30, 1958 in Metamora and she survives. Surviving is one son Bill (Donna) Belshaw of Washington IL, Son-in-law Ken (The late Sheree) Halvachs of Fairview Heights, IL, and grandchildren Ashlee Halvachs and Ken Halvachs Jr.. Bill is also survived by two brothers Barry (Carol) Belshaw of Dunlap and Brad (Roxanna) Belshaw of Peoria and a sister Roberta (Alan) Hahn of Washington, and many nieces and nephews. Bill was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving from 1956-1962 and was a Manufacturing Supervisor working for Caterpillar at the Chemical Processing Plant in Mossville for 39 years retiring in 2001. Village President of Metamora two years to present and Village Board Trustee for 4 years prior. Former Metamora Chief of Police for 21 years, past president of Old Settlers Association, Board Member of Continental Hockey League working with long time friend Mark Olson to bring professional hockey to Peoria?s Logan Ice Dome in the 1970?s. Longtime Ducks Unlimited Sponsor. His hobbies were hunting and fishing and enjoying his hunting days on the Illinois River with many friends and at Mallard Farms Incorporated. In his early days in Chicago he was a competitive swimmer and had a Blackbelt in Judo. He was a fan of the Chicago Blackhawks, Peoria Rivermen, Peoria Blades, Dallas Cowboys, University of Illinois Football and Nascar. He also enjoyed Rose gardening and painting. A Man who took on any challenges put before him and was an achiever of many accomplishments and lived life to the fullest and with no regrets. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am Monday April 16, 2012 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Metamora with Father Don Roszkowski officiating. Rosary will be at 2:30pm Sunday with visitation to follow from 3pm until 7pm at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery where military rites will be accorded.
