Wilbert J. Marchand

Wilbert J. Marchand age 87 of Metamora, Illinois passed away at 3:30am Saturday July 30, 2011 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. He was born Oct. 22, 1923 in Metamora, IL to Joseph J. and Ida S. (Gries) Marchand. He married Viola J. Fredericks June 15, 1943 in Metamora, IL. She passed away on July 3, 2008. Surviving are his children Wilbert (Rosie) Marchand Jr. and Joseph Marchand both of Metamora, Sharon (Donald) Garber of Low Point, Carol Ann Couch of Streator, IL, Cindy (Gene) Wegner of Peoria, and Theresa Shelton of Metamora. 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Wilbert was also survived by three sisters; Mildred (Art) Gieseking, Mary Schaub, and Bernadine Janssen all of Metamora. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Annette, and 3 brothers and one sister. Wilbert farmed his whole life in Metamora; he also drove the School bus for Metamora Grade School, and had worked for McBride and Shoff, and the Metamora Abattoir. He was a Sales Rep. for L. G. Seeds where he had received the Master Dealer Award. Member of Knights of Columbus Lady of Sorrows Council 3060 and St. Mary?s Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am Tuesday August 2, 2011 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church with Father John Verrier officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5pm until 7pm at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with recitation of the rosary at 7pm. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery in Metamora.
