Wayne Floyd Miller

Wayne Floyd Miller, 69, of Germantown Hills, IL passed away at 8:32 am on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Richard L. Owens Hospice Home after a brave battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born on May 17, 1946 in Peoria to Lyle and Opal (Floyd) Miller. He married Sandy Abrams on July 12, 1975. She survives. Also surviving are his son David Wayne (Amanda) Miller of Spring Bay; three granddaughters Alissa, Jaycee, and Adyson and will soon have his first grandson Colten Wayne Miller; sister Carole Wright of Peoria; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister Marilyn Rush. Wayne served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He was employed at Caterpillar Mossville BB and retired after 33 years as a UAW 974 member in good standing. Wayne was a member of the East Peoria Boat Club and Spring Bay American Legion Hall #1115. He played on numerous billiard teams and was a soundman for many years for several bands. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He was honest, caring, and practiced what he preached. He knew the meaning of being a true friend and always helped anyone who needed it. He loved to make people laugh and his great sense of humor will be missed by his family and multitude of friends. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2016 from 4:00 pm until 6:30 pm at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel. A Celebration of Life will follow at the East Peoria Boat Club. Cremation Rites have been accorded. Burial of ashes will be held in Parkview Cemetery at a later date.
