Wayne L. Adams, 89, formerly of Creve Coeur, passed away at 4pm Sunday November 20, 2011 at Snyder Village in Metamora. He was born on March 9, 1922 in Mason City, IL the son of Theodore and Missouri Belle Adams. He married Mary L. Christy on July 10, 1948 in Pekin. Surviving are his wife of Metamora, two daughters Mary (Michael) Curry of Metamora and Margie (Robert) Highfill of Washington. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. One son Jake, one granddaughter, 2 sisters and 4 brothers preceded him in death. Wayne was an honorably discharged US Army Veteran serving in WWII. He was active during the North Africa Campaign, and the invasion of Sicily, and then fought in Italy and France and then into the Rhineland. Caterpillar Tractor Co. employed Wayne for 30 years before his retirement in 1978 as a welder. He was a past member of the American Legion Post #1234 in Creve Coeur. Cremation Rites have been accorded. Graveside committal services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery on Coalbank Rd. in Metamora on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 10am. The Tazewell County Military Rites Team will conduct Military Honors. Memorials may be given in his name to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
