Walter "Dusty" Lockhart

Walter "Dusty" Lockhart, 80, of East Peoria, IL, formerly of Metamora, IL, a loving, kind, and funny man, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023, in Peoria, IL. He was born in Peoria on January 13, 1943, the son of Walter S. and Darlene M. Huff Lockhart.  He married Eleanor Dunlap on June 30, 1984, in Peoria.

Surviving are his wife of East Peoria and six children including step-children; Mike Lockhart of Athens, IL. Mark (Angie) Lockhart and Michelle (Ray) Kissling, both of LaPorte, IN; Penny (Keven) Forney of Bloomington, IL; Russell Boster of Morton, IL and Lisa Hill of Peoria, IL. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Dusty began his career as a sheet metal worker and was employed by Peoria Roofing before retiring from Kreiling Roofing in 2002. His colleagues and friends admired his dedication to his craft and strong work ethic. Dusty's commitment to excellence extended beyond his professional life, as he was actively involved in various associations and organizations within the sheet metal industry.

Outside of work, Dusty had a wide range of interests that brought joy to his life and the lives of those around him. An avid fisherman, he spent countless hours on the water, seeking relaxation and the catch's thrill. Dusty also enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and participating in friendly bingo games with his friends and family.

Dusty had a deep love for country music. His enthusiasm for music was infectious, and he was always eager to share his passion with others.

In addition to his love for music, Dusty was a dedicated sports fan, mainly when it came to the Chicago Cubs. He proudly wore his Cubs gear and cheered on his favorite team, never wavering in support, even during the most challenging seasons. Dusty's loyalty and unwavering optimism were an inspiration to those around him.

Dusty will be remembered for his loving nature, kind heart, and wonderful sense of humor. His ability to make others laugh and his genuine concern for the well-being of his friends and family were hallmarks of his character. His legacy will live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023, from 4 PM until 6 PM at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. A funeral service is also scheduled at the funeral home for 10:30 AM on Friday, June 16, 2023. Cremation rites will follow his service, and a private family burial will be held later at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be given to the American Red Cross. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
