Walter Johnson

WASHINGTON - Walter F. Johnson, 87, of Washington, IL, passed away at 7:17 am on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.

He was born on January 10, 1934, in Peoria, IL, to the late Clarence and Cecil (Benedict) Johnson.  He married Delores Firmand on March 5, 1955, in Peoria.  She preceded him in death on March 1, 2012. Also, preceding him in death were 2 brothers, one infant brother, and four sisters.

Surviving are his three sons, Russ (Jenni) Johnson, Kim (Deb) Johnson, and Glen (Linda) Johnson all of Washington; 9 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren.

Walter was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.  He worked in the traffic division for the State of Illinois. He enjoyed woodworking, building plastic models and singing.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at St. Monica's Catholic Church in East Peoria.  Father John Steffen will officiate.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to his mass on Thursday at the church.  Burial will be in Fondulac Township Cemetery in East Peoria.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Monica's Catholic Church.
