Virginia M. Volk

Virginia M. Volk, 92, of Washington passed away at 7:24am, Tuesday, May 23, 2017, surrounded by her family at Washington Christian Village following a brief illness. She was born on October 12, 1924 in Washington, daughter of Rollie and Stella Zilch Berry. She married Virgil B. Volk on July 31, 1948 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington. Surviving are her husband, and their three sons, Chuck of Bradenton, FL; Don (Bobbi) Volk and Jerry (Judy) Volk all of Washington. Also surviving are three grandchildren Zoe, Libby and Max Volk; two step grandchildren, Jim Stout and Nicki Kroeger along with one sister Bernadine Whitacre of Olathe, KS. One daughter Mary and two brothers Ernie and Corwin preceded her in death. Virginia was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington where she was previously active with the Altar & Rosary Society and the Quilting club. In her younger days, Virginia was a stay at home mom while her children attended St. Patrick Catholic School where she was active as a room mother. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2017 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Fr. Julius Turyatoranwa will officiate. Visitation will be Friday at Mason-White Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Further visitation will be one-hour prior to her mass on Saturday at the Church. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be given to her church or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
