WASHINGTON?Virginia M. Roth, 92, of Washington, passed away at 5:15 a.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Advocate Eureka Hospital in Eureka. Virginia was born on March 16, 1920 in Eureka to Ocie and Mary Meister Selvey. She married Herman Roth in St. Mary?s Church in Metamora on July 4, 1942. Herman died on February 20, 2005 in Eureka. Among those surviving are two sons, Daniel (Betty) Roth of Washington and Jerry (Beckie) Roth of Pacific, MO; four grandchildren, Debbie (Don) Adams of Metamora, Tim (Sheri) Roth of Washington, Jerry Roth, Jr. and Jacquie (Jeff) Klocke, both of St. Louis, MO, two brothers, Gene (Ethel) Selvey of Morton and George (Shirley) Selvey of Eureka; three sisters, Ileta Thomas of Kennebunk, ME, Marie Britt and Celesta Zears, both of Peoria and ten great grandchildren, A.J., Zack, Catherine, Sarah & Emma Klocke of St. Louis, Kyle & Josh Adams of Metamora and Madalyn, Ava & Alex Roth of Washington. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Virginia was a graduate of Eureka High School in the class of 1938. A homemaker most of her life, Virginia had worked as a "hired girl" (nanny) in her younger years and had also worked at the Eureka canning factory. She sang in the St. Pat?s choir for many years and was a long-time member of the quilting club. Virginia had hand-sewn and crocheted many baby gifts and quilts for family and friends. Service for Virginia will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church with Monsignor John Prendergast officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens, south of Washington. Visitation for Virginia will be one hour prior to services at the church. Mason-White Funeral Home is assisting the family in arrangements. Memorials may be directed to either St. Patrick?s Church or St. Patrick?s School in memory of Virginia.
