Virginia R. Withers, 90, of Metamora, IL, passed away at 6:10 pm on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Snyder Village Health Center in Metamora surrounded by her family.

She was born on July 29, 1934, in Peoria, IL, to Carl and Maxine (Spalding) Huser. She married William J. Withers on May 2, 1959 in Peoria. He passed away on February 7, 1974.

Surviving are her children, Joyce Withers-Kiefer of Washburn, IL, Jolene Withers of Metamora, and Brian (Sherrie) Withers of Metamora; siblings, Deb (Gary) Marshall and Carl (Val) Huser both of Metamora; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Kenneth Huser.

Virginia graduated from Metamora Township High School in 1953 and attended Brown Business School in Peoria, IL.

Virginia had worked at Carson Pirie Scott in Peoria, IL and the Metamora IGA before going to work as an administrative assistant for AID Assoc. for Lutherans. She retired from Aid Assoc. for Lutherans after 23 years of working for them.

Virginia was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Washington, IL.

Virginia belonged to the Germantown Hills Home Extension for 61 years and to the Red Hat Society. She loved working in her flower beds, watching and feeding the birds, especially the Hummingbirds, watching her nieces and nephews play sports, watching football and old westerns, putting puzzles together on her kindle, working word search puzzles, scrapbooking, and reading her Bible.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with Reverend Jack Wilcox and Reverend Ron Miller officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, February 28, 2025 at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel and also one hour prior to her service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Metamora. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1209 Kingsbury Road, Washington, IL or to Illinois Cancer Care, 8940 North Wood Sage Road, Peoria, IL 61615.
