Virginia C. "Ginnie" Brown, 99, of Metamora, IL passed away at 5:58 am on Monday, July 17, 2023 at Snyder Village Health Center in Metamora.

She was born on December 9, 1923, in West Frankfort, IL, to Robert and Inez (Hufford) Webb. She married Haskell M. Brown on February 1, 1942 in Peoria, IL. He passed away in 1989.

Surviving are her son, Kerwin (Pat) Brown of Metamora; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, Larry Brown, Marvin Brown, and Dee Brown, great-grandson, Robert Brown, and two brothers, Robert Webb and Zurl Webb.

Ginnie had worked as a clerk for Krogers for many years, retiring in January of 1988. She enjoyed traveling, flower gardening, crocheting, and reading. Ginnie was always active in churches with the longest time serving at Memorial Baptist Church in Peoria, IL. It is a precious memory to have heard her break out singing, "I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses", on the last lucid day we had with her earlier in the week she went to be with the Lord Jesus, her Savior. What a reunion of family and loved ones! Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. Psalm 139:16 (ESV). Ginnie was 114 days shy of her 100th birthday, but truly in God's time did she meet her Savior!

Ginnie loved those who will be seeing her obituary and it was sad to have her memories of people going, but we as a family thank you for your years of kindness shown to her.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Germantown Hills Baptist Church with Pastor Ken Linder, former Pastor at Memorial Baptist Church, officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to her service. Burial of Ashes will be in Vermont Cemetery in Vermont, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Snyder Village Residents in Need Fund, 1200 East Partridge Street, Metamora, IL 61548 or otherwise expressed by the donor.
