Thomas I. Stark, 91, of Washington, IL, formerly of Heber Springs, AR passed away at 11:04 am on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Unity Point Health-Proctor in Peoria. He was born on September 1, 1923 in Cleburne County, AR to J.D. and Ida (Bullard) Stark. He married Nyla J. Bachman on February 15, 1958 in Peoria. She died on May 19, 2013. Surviving are his son Greg (Rachel) Stark and granddaughter Kathleen Stark, all of Washington, brother Mitchell Stark and sisters Yvonne Gentry and LaVerne Kitchen, all of Heber Springs, AR and his two caregivers Marge Prouty and Edna Tenuta, both of Washington. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Tom was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran serving as a Military Police Sergeant at Los Alamos, NM. He worked for Caterpillar for 30 years in the foundry, retiring in 1982. He was an avid Cubs fan, enjoyed playing the lotto, was easy going who loved telling stories and talking to people. He was friendly to everybody he met. He had the privilege to be a part of the trip to Washington, DC on the Peoria Honor Flight, visiting the national war memorial and other historic sites which was an experience he thoroughly loved and cherished. He was a member of the American Legion Post 100, Washington and the Cazenovia Mennonite Church. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 11:00 am at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with Reverend Dennis Kennell officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Stewart Harmony Cemetery, Metamora. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Cazenovia Mennonite Church. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
