Theodore "Ted" M. Alig, 80, of Metamora, IL passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 10:20 pm at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. He was born on July 12, 1934 in Tazewell County, IL to Theodore Peter and Irene (Marchand) Alig. He married Marilyn C. Grebner on May 20, 1961 at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church, Metamora. She survives. Also surviving are his children Greg (Tammy) Alig and Kevin (Tonya) Alig of Metamora and Melissa (Tony) Todaro of Bloomington; grandchildren Ben and Michael Alig, Jessica, Danielle, and Katelyn Alig, Elizabeth, Megan and Hailey Todaro; siblings John (Anna) Alig of Eureka, Sylvia Small and Genevieve Willman both of Metamora, Elaine (Bob) Kapraun of El Paso, Myrna (Willie) Davis of Pahrump, NV, Leah (Paul) Molloy of Washington, Carol (Bob) Heinz and Renee (Elmer) Grebner, both of Metamora. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son James, brothers-in-law Robert Grebner, Roger Fandel, Ralph Small and Ken Willman. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Germany. He was a metal pattern maker at Caterpillar for 41 years, retiring February, 1995. He was a member of the Pattern Makers League of North America and was also a life-long farmer. He was a Metamora Township Trustee for 13 years. He was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Metamora. He was a third degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus Lady of Sorrows Council 3060 where he served as Grand Knight in 1972. He was President of St. Mary?s Holy Name Society where he was Man of the Year in 1998. He served on the St. Mary?s Cemetery Board and the St. Mary?s School Board. He volunteered many hours of service and maintenance for the church and the school. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 10:30 am at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Metamora with Monsignor John J. Prendergast officiating. Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 3:30 pm at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with visitation immediately following from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery, Metamora with military rites accorded. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Metamora Fire Department or St. Mary?s School.
