Thelma Staes

EAST PEORIA...Thelma E. Staes, 97, formerly of East Peoria, passed away at 4:37 a.m., Monday, April 2, 2012 at Rosewood Care Center in Peoria. Thelma was born on October 8, 1914 in Peoria to August and Anna Blume Hess. She married Emiel Staes in Peoria on September 26, 1955. Emiel passed away on May 15, 2008. Among those surviving is one son, Donald Washburn of Peoria; one daughter, Carol (Dale) Schmidt of Eureka; three grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by four brothers. Thelma had worked for Bennett Publishing Company in Peoria for 21 years and prior to that had been employed by Hiram Walker. Funeral services for Thelma will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Dick Hanson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery. Memorials for Thelma may be directed to the Alzheimers Association.
