Tara L. (Atherton) Peterson

Tara L. (Atherton) Peterson, 47, of Spring Bay, IL, passed away at 5:00 pm on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at her residence.

She was born on May 25, 1976, in Peoria, IL, to Ralph O. and Tammy B. (Robertson) Atherton. She married Ritchie L. Peterson in July 23, 2005. He passed away on January 6, 2022.

Surviving are her parents, Ralph and Tammy Atherton of Spring Bay, IL; sister, Alesha Atherton of Roanoke, IL; four nieces, Lizzy (Damin) Campen, Taylor Riggio, Parker Bramm, and Anabell Bramm; many extended aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; one great-niece; and one great-nephew.

Tara grew up in Spring Bay living with her sister Alesha and her parents Ralph and Tammy. She spent most of her adult life living in Florida with her husband, Ritchie. Tara and Ritchie got married on a beautiful beach in 2005. They spent most of their days fishing, enjoying family time, running their small business, and spending time with their animals. Tara moved back to Illinois to be closer to her family after the passing of her husband in 2022.

During those short two years that Tara had moved back she spent a great amount of time with her family. Tara loved spending time with her family and fur babies. She enjoyed going on road trips with her mother and father, listening to her favorite artist, Luke Bryan, and even having a mother-daughter day in Nashville to see her favorite artist. Tara will be missed dearly by family and friends.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Spring Bay American Legion Post #1115, 500 Legion Lane, Spring Bay, IL 61611. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
