Syril R. "Ray" Kiefner age 87 of Metamora, Illinois passed away at 4:40am Friday March 16, 2012 at Apostolic Christian Home in Roanoke, IL. He was born Dec. 11, 1924 in Vigo County Indiana to Nicholas and Beatrice (Stewart) Kiefner and was raised from the age of two by Ernest (Olive) Stewart. He married Georgianna C. Grebner on June 10, 1950 in Metamora and she survives. Surviving are two daughters, Carol Malcome of Metamora, and Connie (Mike) Davis of E. Peoria. Five sons; Larry, Jerry (Joni), Randy, Ron (Mary) and Scott Kiefner all of Metamora. 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and one sister Mary Browning of Terre Haute, IN. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Ray was a WWII Army Veteran earning 2 Bronze Stars serving in the South Pacific. He was a Welder working for R.G. Letourneau and Komatsu and retired in 1993. He owned a Welding and Machine Shop most of his life and enjoyed fixing things, gardening, and playing his guitar. Graveside services will be at 11:00am Tuesday March 20, 2012 at St. Mary of Lourdes Cemetery in rural Metamora with Father Neri Greskoviak officiating. Military rights will be accorded by American Legion Post #89. Memorials may be made to Wounded Veterans Foundation and Alzheimers Association Central Illinois Chapter.
