Suellen "Sue" Northrup

MORTON - Suellen "Sue" Northrup, 73, of Morton died at 5:38 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, at Manorcare/Riverview Nursing Home in East Peoria. Born Sept. 13, 1942, in East St. Louis, Ill., to Dr. Harry J. and Lenadore (Bass) Summer, she married Kenneth Northrup on June 30, 1962. He survives. Also surviving are one son, David (Kris) Northrup, of Signal Mountain, Tenn.; one daughter, Pamela S. Northrup, of Washington; and two grandchildren, Clarissa and Breslin. Sue was a kind and caring person who never met a stranger. Her love of people, animals, music, and flowers was surpassed only by her love of God. A deeply spiritual woman, Sue was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Morton. She had also been a Eucharistic minister and taught CCD classes. Having graduated from Academy of Our Lady in Peoria, Sue went on to attend Fontbonne College and Bradley University, where she was president of Sigma Alpha Iota sorority (Bradley University Chapter). She worked for many years and held multiple positions in the human resources field, where she fulfilled her passion for helping those in need. Sue loved her family dearly, and her granddaughter, Clarissa, and "adopted granddaughters" Mary Kate and Sara, were shining lights in her heart. Sue will be greatly missed. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 10:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton with Father Kyle Lucas and Deacon Kevin Zeeb officiating. Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 4:30 pm at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with visitation to follow from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral mass on Wednesday at the church. Burial of ashes will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday at St. Mary's Cemetery, Metamora.
