Sue (Kingery) Murphy

Sue Murphy, 75, of Peoria, IL, passed away at 8:23 pm on Friday, March 28, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.

She was born on December 12, 1949, in Peoria, IL to Ivan and Hazel (Yaw) Kingery. She married Larry E. Murphy on July 12, 1975 in Peoria, IL.

Surviving are her husband, Larry of Peoria; son, Brian (Stephanie) Murphy of Pleasant Plains, IL; daughter, Amanda Murphy of Columbia, MO; and grandchildren, Kaylin, Luke, Wyatt, and Alayna Murphy. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Sue was a retired teacher, teaching at several public schools. She was a member of Grace Church in Morton, IL where she had served in the children's ministry and loved helping guide children's lives from nursery school through high school. Sue had served as a girls camp director at Brook Cherith Camp in Tiskilwa, IL. She enjoyed playing the piano and listening to gospel music.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Grace Church in Morton, IL with Pastor Jonathan Farrell and Pastor Brad Habegger officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until 10:45 am, also on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Metamora, IL.
