Stevie James Session, 90, of East Peoria, formerly of Spring Bay, IL, passed away at 3:07 am on Monday, July 11, 2022.
He was born on February 20, 1932, in Bath, IL, to the late Arlie and Sylvia Gertrude (Blanchard) Session. Stevie was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley L (Troxell) Session.
Surviving are his children, Jeffrey W. Session, Sr. of Spring Bay and Lisa A. (Anthony) Ellis of Antioch, TN; grandchildren, Christine M. (Daniel) Leach of Herculaneum, MO, Jeffrey W. (Gini) Session, Jr. of High Point, NC, and Benjamin Colt (Tiffani) Ellis of Columbia, TN; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Noah, Holden, Ethan, and Hailey Leach; Freddy, Ashley, Charlie, EmiLee, Stevie, Maddisin, and Archie Session; and Audrey Ellis; one sister, Betty Dierker of New Mexico; and his very special friend, Norma Bailey. Stevie was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Stevie grew up in the Bath and Chandlerville areas. He moved to Spring Bay in 1966. He enlisted in the Navy in 1952, serving four years of active duty during the Korean War, followed by four years in the reserves.
Stevie worked as a welder in the research department at Caterpillar Tractor Company for 29 years, retiring in 1993. He owned his own business, Session's Welding and Machine for over 20 years.
He was an avid camper, beginning with a small pop-up camper and over the years graduating to his last rig – a 32 foot Class A motorhome. Stevie was a long-time member of the Good Sams Camping Association, where over the years he held many leadership positions including Illinois State Director.
He was involved with several charities, Dogs for the Deaf, Illinois Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run, and the Salvation Army.
Graveside Services will be held at 3:30 pm CST on Saturday, July 16, 2022 in Spring Bay Cemetery in Spring Bay, IL with military rites accorded.
