He retired in 2013. He was a Freemason and a member of American Legion Post 983 and UAW 974. His favorite hobbies were fishing, traveling, especially to Canada, and reading Louis L'Amour novels. He enjoyed watching the sun rise and set and watching Nature Shows, but he really loved being with his family and friends. Steven's family described him as warm, loving, sensitive and emotional. He had a tender heart but had the strength of a bear. He was a hard worker and diligent, but always stayed humble. They are most proud of him for his giving nature, honesty and being a man of his word. Memorial contributions may be made in Steve's memory to The Glioblastoma Research Foundation.
