Stephen Lee Fisher, 34, of Springfield formally of Metamora, went to Heaven on April 10, 2014. He was born to Jerry and Jill Fisher on June 12, 1979 in Peoria, Illinois. He graduated from Metamora High School in 1997, where he was the starting nose guard for the State Runner Up Championship football team. He also attended Lake Forest College graduating cum laude with a BA in Political Science. A life-long learner, Steve was currently completing his final MBA course at University of Illinois at Springfield majoring in Human Resources. Steve was a Senior Negotiator at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Springfield for nine years, where he lived since 2005. With his love for animals, Steve was an active volunteer at Sangamon County Animal Control for two years, donating his time every Monday. He was also involved for 10 years with New Midwest Wrestling. His fans knew him in the ring as Toga Steve. Steve enjoyed golf, Texas Hold'em, slow-pitch softball, mountain biking, and trivia nights. He was a referee for JV high school football and always rooted for Michigan Wolverines. He traveled to China and conquered the Great Wall. No matter who you ask, they would say Steve was a nice guy who always wanted to help others. Steve is survived by his parents Jerry and Jill Fisher of Metamora; his sisters Amy (Kyle Youngberg) and Chrissy (Brad Grebner). He was an amazing uncle to Bradan, Sarie, Katelyn, and Luke. He also leaves behind many friends who he loved very much. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Mason Funeral Home in Metamora. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7pm. The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10am at St. Mary's Church in Metamora with the procession to the St. Mary's Cemetery to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations in honor of Steve to Friends of Sangamon County Animal Control (P.O. Box 9742, Springfield, IL 62791).
