Stephanie Hajny

September 24, 1946 — April 27, 2017

Stephanie K. Hajny, 70, of Washington passed away at 5:02pm, Thursday, April 27, 2017, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born on September 24, 1946 in Peoria, daughter of Omer and Sarah (Aldridge) Condo. Surviving are two sons Todd Hajny and Matt Hajny both of Washington and one sister Janet (Maurice) Beckman of Salem, IL. Her parents and one brother preceded her in death. After 34 years of government service, mostly with the US District Clerk's Office in Peoria, Steph retired in 2004. Although employed full time throughout her sons' childhoods, she always had time to be a devoted mother during those formative years. Additionally, she was dedicated to exploring her family history, traveling all over southern Illinois and parts of Indiana and Ohio while doing genealogical research. She visited numerous county courthouses and cemeteries, sometimes with her parents and later on with her sister, slowly filling in the gaps of a family tree that can now be traced back over 200 years. Her sons would like to extend a thank you to the staff at both OSF St. Francis Medical Center and Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria for their generous and compassionate care of their mother during the past couple months. A visitation will be held Monday, May 1, 2017, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. There will be no services, and cremation rites will follow her visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association or to the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Memories and condolences may be sent using www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
