Stanton "Stan" Cook

WASHINGTON - Stanton "Stan" Cook, 69, of Washington, IL, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home. On August 20, 1951, he was born in Macomb, IL, the son of Albert and Verna Cook. He married Dian S. Wickwire on July 18, 1970, in Ipava, IL.

Surviving are his wife, Dian; son Eric (Hallie) Cook of Northlake, TX; daughter Stephanie (Paul) Cronin of Beavercreek, OH; and son Jason (Julie) Cook of Bloomington, IL. Also surviving are nine grandchildren. His parents, brother Albert Duane Cook, and sister Marcia Papatyi preceded him in death.

He was a 1969 graduate of V.I.T. High school. After graduating from high school, Stan served in the US Army in the Signal Corps from 1971 to 1974. He later joined the 182nd Illinois Air National Guard, where he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant in 2004. He enjoyed mentoring airmen and served as First Sergeant on two separate occasions.

Stan began working at Caterpillar in 1974 at the Mapleton foundry. He completed the metal pattern maker apprenticeship program at Caterpillar in 1983. Stan obtained a bachelor's of science in manufacturing engineering at Bradley University in 1988 and later finished a master's degree in industrial engineering at Bradley in 1994. He finished his career at Caterpillar as an engineering manager after 35 years.

Stan served on the Zoning Board of Appeals in both Lewistown, IL and Washington, IL. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
