Stanley Scott Hildebrand

Stanley Scott Hildebrand, 79, of Metamora, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Carle Bromenn Medical Center in Normal, IL.

He was born on February 6, 1944, in Pana, IL, to Ernest and Margaret O. (Scott) Hildebrand. He married Mary E. Nickell on July 22, 1967 in Decatur, IL.

Surviving are his wife, Mary of Metamora; daughters, Stacey (Paul) Miller of Germantown Hills, IL, Nickey Hildebrand of Gary, IN, and Mandy Hildebrand of Peoria Heights, IL; grandchildren, Abby Miller and Aaron Miller; and sisters, Margie (Pat) Malone of Forsyth, IL and Mary Kay (Morris) Ennis of Decatur, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Douglas Hildebrand.

Stanley was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War as the radar operator on the USS Ticonderoga. He was a manager for Illinois Bell and AT&T. After retirement, Stan drove for Peoria Charter Coach and was the manager for Peoria Bell Credit Union. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria, Escapees RV Club, and the VFW. He often volunteered his time to serve the community. Stan loved learning about technology and the newest gadgets and also loved history and could remember so many things. Stanley enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling. He loved telling jokes and would do anything for people. He was always looking out for everyone else. He was a Christian and a great man of faith. Stanley loved being a grandpa and spending time with Abby and Aaron made him so happy. He loved greatly and was greatly loved.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Grace Presbyterian Church with Pastor Greg Grindinger officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until service time, also Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Metamora with military rites accorded.
