Shawn Patrick Martis

Shawn Patrick Martis, 47, of Washington, passed away at 1:40 a.m., Sunday, August 27, 2017 at his residence.

He was born on June 03, 1970 in Pekin, IL the son of Gerald and Verline Maybee Martis. He married Belinda Murphy on March 17, 2000 in Pekin, IL.

Surviving are his wife of Washington, IL; his parents of Green Valley, IL; two sons Steven Kennedy of Dekalb, IL and Wesley Brown of Morton and one daughter Rachel Brown of Washington, IL. Also surviving are two granddaughters Piper Rosenberg and Julia Kennedy both of Largo, FL along with one sister Laura (Phil) Gangloff of Metamora, IL; two brothers Gerald (Shelley Garrison) Martis of Pekin and Paul (Jackie) Martis of Holly Springs, NC. Further surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. One infant son Ryan Martis, and his paternal and maternal grandparents preceded him in death.

Shawn was a truly talented artist. At a young age, Shawn accepted Jesus Christ in his life. In his younger years he enjoyed BMX bikes and his skateboards. Shawn enjoyed many things in life including fishing, and being outdoors, but especially enjoyed being with friends and family and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A time to celebrate Shawn's life will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Pekin First Church of God 2520 Maywood Ave in Pekin.
