Sharon Kay Nieukirk

WASHINGTON-Sharon Kay Nieukirk, 67, of Washington passed away at 6:05pm Saturday, May 14, 2016 at OSF ST. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born on January 16, 1949 in Peoria the daughter of Henry L. and Phyllis L. Berlett Schmidt. She married Marvin D. Nieukirk on January 20, 1968 in Washington. Surviving are her husband Marvin, one son Shane (Cindy) Nieukirk of Webster Groves MO and one daughter Stephanie (Dustin) Wise of Mackinaw IL. Also surviving is her mother Phyllis of Washington IL, one grandson Benjamin Nieukirk and one granddaughter Sophie Wise. Two brothers Ron (Donna) Schmidt of Peoria IL, John Schmidt of Washington IL and one sister Robin (Tom) Bryan of Peoria IL and many nieces and nephews further survive. Her father preceded her in death in 1997 along with one sister in law Bonnie Dall-Schmidt in 2003. She was a 1967 graduate of Washington Community High School. Sharon owned and operated Step Back in Time in Washington for 28 years with the help of her dedicated staff. She had many enjoyments in life, particularly spending time with her husband and granddaughter. Her smile, humor and generosity will be greatly missed. Cremation rites have been accorded.
