Sharon K. Rauh, 83, of Metamora, IL, passed away at 12:05 pm on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at her residence.
She was born on October 20, 1939, in Peoria, IL, to George J. and Rose E. (Mariner) Hutt. When George remarried, Sharon gained a stepmother, June Hutt. She married Glenn E. Rauh on September 9, 1961.
Surviving are her husband, Glenn of Metamora; daughters, Nancy (Mark) Botti of Carol Stream, IL, Ann Dickerson of Metamora, Tina (Steve) Glidewell of Pekin, IL, and Aimee (Edward) Oliver of Bartonville, IL; ten grandchildren, Ian Dickerson, Zoe Dickerson, Claire Dickerson, Alec Shehorn, Emily Shehorn, Ryan Shehorn, Brennan Glidewell, Conner (Maesyn) Glidewell, Trey Glidewell, and Isabella Rauh; and sister, Bonnie (Don) Strieder of Metamora. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Edna DeMoss and Jackie Girbert.
Sharon graduated from Chicago Wesley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1960 with the designation of RN (Registered Nurse). Upon graduation, she worked at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, and later at Proctor Hospital in Peoria, IL. While in nursing school, she learned how to knit from one of her roommates. She continued to enjoy the art of needlework, including knitting, sewing and cross stitch. Other hobbies she enjoyed include planting and growing flowers and preserving fresh food from the garden planted and harvested by Glenn each summer. On any given day in May or June, you could find Sharon at one of many greenhouses in the area buying flowers. During summer and fall, Sharon canned and froze fresh picked fruit and vegetables, as well as making fruit preserves, pickles and applesauce. Sharon was also an active member of her church, First English Lutheran Church in Peoria.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at First English Lutheran Church, 725 East Forrest Hill Drive, Peoria, IL, with Pastor Ryan H. Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until 11:30 am, also at the church on Saturday. A luncheon will be served immediately following the service at the church. The family intends to wear business casual attire for the events of the day, and invites those in attendance to do the same. A private family burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Metamora.
