Sharon Marie Steider, 85, peacefully passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 5:25 am at Goldwater Care in Bloomington, IL with her children by her side. Sharon was born on August 16, 1940 in Peoria, Illinois, to Leroy and Dorothy (Chinuge) Hamlin. She married Robert "Bob" Steider on November 28, 1960 in Peoria, Illinois.
Sharon was preceded in death by her adoring husband but not before spending over 60 wonderful, blissful years, together. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Dorothy Hamlin. Sharon's memory will be cherished by her four children, Tim (Holly) Steider of Washington, IL, Kris (Craig) Steider Nishimura of Houston, TX, Ryan (Christina) Steider of Normal, IL, and Dan Steider of Normal, IL. Sharon was also blessed with fifteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren with whom she loved spending time. Sharon will also be lovingly remembered by her two sisters, Suzanne Stahl and Sally Hamlin of Peoria, Illinois. In life, a very special bond was formed with Bob's sister, Phyllis Choinere of Villa Park, Illinois. They enjoyed years of laughter together.
Sharon enjoyed her life as a cherished wife, loving mother, and caring grandmother. Shortly after high school, she started working as an operator and quickly met the love of her life through friends. Sharon married Bob and embraced the wholesome and enriching farm life for many, many years on the Steider farm homestead. They raised all four kids on the Steider farm. The memories continued with all of their grandchildren, who provided so much love and happiness. Sharon was devoted to spending time and creating memories with family.
Sharon did continue her telecommunications career after leaving the farm life. Some of her favorite things were singing with her beautiful voice, sketching, crafting, shopping, doing puzzles, listening to music, and spending time with her furry friends. Sharon was so very fond of her cats! Sharon loved to laugh and considered family very important to her. Holidays were such a special time that she cherished with her loved ones. She was devoted to making memories with her family whenever she could, especially her kids and grandkids. Her love of the arts showed in her beautiful singing voice and in her incredible drawings and sketches. She brought light to those around her!
Graveside Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, October 3, 2025 at Hickory Point Cemetery in Metamora with Pastor Zac Alvis officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm at Mason Funeral Home in Metamora. A luncheon will follow the graveside service at 125 Camelin Drive, Washington, IL.
