Sharon Lee White Hill Elbert, 68, of Metamora, Illinois passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 11:30 am in Varna, Illinois. She was born on February 3, 1946 in Peoria to Bertram W. and Hazel L. (Keyes) White. Bertram died when Sharon was six months old. Through marriage to Sharon?s mother, she was adopted by Robert C. Hill. Sharon married Lynn E. Elbert on September 10, 1966 at St. Mary?s Church, Metamora. He survives. Also surviving are three children, Troy David (Carol) Elbert of Bloomington, Andrew John (Martina) Elbert of Germany, and Stephanie Louise (Jonathan) Hardy of Palatine, Illinois; six grandchildren, Jessica, Troy David II, Parker and Emerson Elbert of Bloomington and Aaron and Meredith Hardy of Palatine; one brother, David Lee (Nanci) Hill of Peoria; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her natural parents and adoptive father. Throughout her life she was a blood/platelet donor, summer league baseball/softball coach, co-founder of St. Mary?s Sunday School, multiple terms for St. Mary?s Education Advisory Committee, Parish Finance and Athletic Committee, Altar and Rosary Society, Girl Scout leader and a Life Scout in Girl Scouting, American Legion Association, member of Metamora Historical Society, Former Co-President with her husband for the United States Air Force Academy Parents Club, Parish Youth Director, Coordinator for assorted parish and school projects, Lector, and Eucharistic Minister for her parish. Prior to her employment with St. Mary?s Parish, she was employed by Herschel Manufacturing in the import/export division. As Business Manager for St. Mary?s, her duties also included promotion of Fund Development and Stewardship awareness. Sharon enjoyed family gatherings, her grandchildren and nature. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Metamora with Father Neri Greskoviak officiating. Recitation of the rosary at 4:30 pm on Thursday, June 26, 2014 with visitation to follow from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel, Metamora. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery, Metamora. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Mary?s School or a charity of the donor?s choice. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com
