Shari Maloney

Sharon Ann Maloney, 61, of Washington passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2015. Shari was born on June 1, 1953 in Peoria, IL to Melvin and Loraine (Niermann) Moehle. She married Gerald (Jerry) Maloney March 4, 1989 in Washington, IL. Shari is survived by her daughters Samantha Austin Carroll (Dan) of Chicago, IL and Kerry Maloney of New Orleans, LA. Also surviving, her sister-in-law Patricia Moehle of Washington. Shari was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, her parents and brother Gary Moehle. Shari was a 1971 graduate of Washington Community High School; during the summers she enjoyed being a lifeguard at the Neptune Swim Club. She worked at Don?s Pharmacy in Washington until she had her daughter, Samantha. Shari later studied Gemology through the GIA Institute, where she developed a passion for jewelry and began working for Gangloff Jewelers for many years. Shari was an animal lover. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved dog Wren as well as watching the neighborhood birds and wildlife that she fed every morning. Gardening and traveling, especially to Florida, were two of her passions. She enjoyed the simple things, especially sitting on the porch with her husband Jer and their dog. Spending time with her large extended family was something she always looked forward to; she never missed a family reunion. She was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church. Shari will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation Services for Shari will be on Thursday, May 28 from 5pm to 7pm at Mason-White Funeral home in Washington. A memorial service will immediately follow officiated by Pastor Bob DeBolt. Cremation rights have been accorded. A graveside service will be Friday May 29th at 10am at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Memorial contributions may be made to the ICC Educational Foundation for the Jerry & Shari Maloney Memorial Scholarship.
