She was born on November 25, 1913 in Royal, Iowa to Dr. D.S. and Sophia Jones. Sarah (Sally) married Robert (Bob) E. Cochran in Royal, Iowa on December 25, 1935 who predeceased her on July 28, 2006. Surviving are two sons, Robert J. (Louise) Cochran of Savoy and John D. Cochran of Lake Oswego, Oregon; five grandchildren, namely Kristen, Mark, Peter, Robert and Kimberley; two step grandchildren; three great grand children; a step great grandchild and one sister, Katherine Meyers of Park City, Utah. She was preceded in death by one sister. Mrs. Cochran had been a school teacher in the Washington, Illinois school system. She attended and graduated from Iowa State University. Education was a high priority in her life both for herself and her family. In Washington, she was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and had served on the church council. Sally was an enthusiast bridge player and enjoyed playing golf. She was active in Child Guidance Club and the PTA. Sally and her husband Bob were apart during World War II and understood the pain of separation a family endures during wartime. She kept a picture of her husband holding son Robert in her arms nearby on her night stand. Sally was known to say that she had so much empathy for the families who have love ones in the armed services that are left alone during periods of conflict. Sally and Bob both attended Iowa State University and met each other there. Husband Bob was known to say that Sally was a cute kidA
