Ruth D. Scheiter

Ruth D. Scheiter, 88, of Peoria, IL passed away at 5:20 pm on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Manor Care, Peoria. She was born on June 22, 1927 in Gillespie, IL to Elvin and Minnie (Slover) Sawyer. She married Orval A. Scheiter on June 20, 1948 in Litchfield, IL. He died on January 18, 1997. Surviving are daughter Kathy (Scott) Lundy of Peoria; grandson Zachary Lundy of Peoria; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brother Robert Sawyer and sister Elnora Rekart. She was a former member of Ascension Lutheran Church in East Peoria. She was a life time member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 1115 in Spring Bay. The family would like to thank Methodist Hospice for the care they gave Ruth and also a special thank you to great-nephew Donnie Baker who helped in caring for her and also to Certified Nurse Assistant Ranita Hendon. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 11:00 am at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel with Reverend Barry Long officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Spring Bay Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, Roanoke, IL.
