Ruth Ann Marienau

Ruth Ann Marienau, 85, formerly of Des Moines, IA passed away at 7:30 am on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Snyder Village in Metamora. She was born on December 3, 1929 in LeMars, IA the daughter of Joseph and Katherine Meis and the youngest of their twelve children. She married Charlie Marienau on September 4, 1950. He preceded her in death in 2000, along with her brothers Ray Meis, Len Meis, Huck Meis, Ed Meis, Herb Meis and Bud Meis and sisters Tillie Wolf, Margaret Grau, and Joan VanSteenwyk. Surviving are her daughter Ann (Ron) Woods of Germantown Hills; grandson Cory (Kari) Woods and great-grandchildren Brady and Ellie Woods all of Shawnee, KS; granddaughter Katie (Kyle) Uftring of Germantown Hills; and sisters Marian Abdalla of Ft. Dodge, IA, and Janet Candiotti of Huntington Beach, CA. Ruth retired in 1994 as controller and corporate secretary for Wright Tree Service, Inc. in Des Moines after 38 years of dedicated service. She served in a number of roles during her career including treasurer, payroll supervisor, and customer billing. She also served as secretary to the company's founder and longtime president. Ruth enjoyed golf and cross-stitching. The family is sincerely grateful for the staff at Snyder Village and OSF Hospice for their care of and compassion toward Ruth. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel. Additional visitation with be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Iles Westover Funeral Home, Des Moines, IA. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, August 14, 2015 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Des Moines, IA with Father Mark Neal officiating. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines, IA. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Theresa's Foundation, 1230 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, IA 50311, Snyder Village Foundation or OSF Hospice.
