WASHINGTON... Ruth A. Fandel, 88, of Washington, passed away at 5:20 p.m., Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Washington Christian Village, two days before her 89th birthday. Ruth was born on September 8, 1926 in Washburn to Albert and Ida (Wehrli) Losher. On July 29, 1950 Ruth married John "Jack" Fandel at Lourdes Church in Germantown Hills. She and Jack just celebrated 65 years of marriage. Among those surviving are two sons: Greg (Alberta) Fandel of Germantown Hills and Mark (Debbie) Fandel of Pekin; two sisters: Esther Belsly of Metamora and Irma Jean Bratt of Eureka; one brother, Dale Losher of Eureka; five grandchildren: Doug (Angie) Fandel, Karl (Maureen) Fandel, Bonnie (Travis) Engstrom, Nicholas (Leslie) Fandel and Laura (Clint) Gossmeyer, and nine great-grandchildren. Ruth was also preceded in death by one brother, Harold Losher. Ruth had worked for Caterpillar in Peoria for eight years prior to starting a family. After the boys were in high school, she went back to work at Illinois Central College where she worked in food service for 17 years until her retirement in 1992. She was a long time member of Washington Christian Church. Ruth also loved to go shopping as well as play cards and yahtzee with neighbors and friends. Her biggest joy came from the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Ruth will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Mason-White Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Browning officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens, south of Washington. Visitation for Ruth will be on Wednesday from 5 to7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials for Ruth may be directed to either ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) or Washington Christian Church. Online condolences to the family may be made at masonfuneralhomes.com
