WASHINGTON?Ruth Eileen Adkins, 97, of Lehigh Acres, Florida passed away at 4:25 p.m., Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the home of her daughter in Washington surrounded by her loving family. Eileen was born on May 16, 1918 in Rushville Township to Charles and Helen (Stoffer) Fey. She married Roy Adkins on June 6, 1937 in Pekin. Roy passed away on February 13, 2006 in Lehigh Acres. Together they celebrated over 68 years of marriage. Among those surviving are two daughters, Dixie (Curt) Burdett of Hanna City and Janet (Bill) Hamilton of Washington; one brother, Robert (Carol) Fey of Mt. Prospect; she was grandmother to eight grandchildren, Jerry (Cindy) Hamilton, Pam Pozzie, Gordon (Julie) Sipes, Keith (Paula) Hamilton, Terri Sipes, Tammy (Kurt) Ramp, Jim (Carol) Hamilton and Tina (Rob) Niederman; 17 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Eileen was preceded in death by one infant grandson; a great grandson, Christopher Hamilton; two brothers and two sisters. Eileen was devoted to her loving family, she was able to celebrate five generations with both of her daughters. She also loved to crochet and had made afghans for all her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, finishing the last one this past December at age 96. Roy and Eileen moved to Florida 38 years ago and Eileen loved calling it home. They kept very active by ballroom dancing until nine years ago when Roy passed away. She also volunteered for many years as a Pink Lady at Lee Memorial Hospital and loved to play bingo. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Lehigh Acres. Funeral services for Eileen will be at 4 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2015 at Evangelical United Methodist Church in Washington with Pastor Rick Atchley officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 2 to 4 p.m. Burial will be at a later date at Lee Memorial Park in Lehigh Acres. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington is assisting the family in arrangements.
