Russel Jay Bachman

Russel Jay Bachman, 92, of Metamora, IL died at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, July 2, 2002, at Unity Point Health-Methodist in Peoria, IL.

Born February 24, 1930, in Peoria, IL to Silas and Mattie (Reeser) Bachman, he married Ferne E. Imhoff on February 24, 1951. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ruth Gross and Minerva Reeb; three step-brothers, Richard, Allan, and Paul Bachman, one step-sister, Eileen Schertz, and grand-son-in-law, Scott Weir.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years; his children, Janet (Danny) Shanks and Keith (Susan) Bachman, all of Washington; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Orpha Schertz, one step-brother, John Bachman, Jr., one sister-in-law, Doris Bachman, and many nieces and nephews.

Russ graduated from Metamora High School. He farmed in Northern Tazewell and Woodford Counties, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed listening to and singing gospel music, was a member of the Gospelaires Quartet, was on a bowling league, loved playing cards and solving all kinds of puzzles, was an avid golfer, and enjoyed ballroom dancing. He was a member of Northwoods Community Church in Peoria, IL.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Metamora Mennonite Church. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Hickory Point Cemetery in Metamora.
