Ruby Dirks

WASHINGTON...Ruby Dirks, 76, of Washington, passed away at 11:15 p.m., Monday, October 10, 2011 at Washington Christian Village. Ruby was born on May 24, 1935 in El Paso, Illinois to Walter and Rose Miller Armstrong. She married Henry Dirks on December 28, 1957 in St. Charles, Missouri. Henry died on August 18, 1977. She had worked for many years at Art?s Tamale?s, retiring in 2003. Among those surviving are two sons, Russell (Sandy) Dirks of Washington and Richard (Velma) Dirks of Guam; one sister, Betty Parchman of Peoria. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Ruby loved her music, she had a natural talent, and played the guitar and accordion without ever having lessons. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles in her spare time. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington with burial following in Secor Cemetery in Secor. Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Methodist Hospice.
